Hey Folks!

WeCycle America has begun!

Bobby, Harvey, and the "Rolling Billboard," left Lewisburg at 1:15pm on Monday August, 13. They had made a route change and were headed onto I40 through Tennessee and on to the Grand Canyon followed by Vegas and finally California on Saturday. A special thanks to Sara and Paul Baud for a wonderful care package full of fruit, veggies, and the works. Vicky Neel also sent along a few days worth of dinners for the boys- and so the journey begins! More later on this week!
** Just a reminder that Free Spirit Adventures will be open and operating throughout the WeCycle excursion. All services including shuttles, rentals, sales, repairs, etc... will be offered. "Chief" Mother Mary Grist will be on duty to serve. **

Training Wheels Issue #3

"Que Pasa" (what's happening):
August 19th, the "pedal" start date of WeCycle America, is drawing near. Once the ride begins, Training Wheels issues will decrease in length- as my friend, Pat Wilfong, reminded me- the "training wheels" will be coming off.

Special Thanks to:
Terry, Jeanne, and Chloe Neal for their generous gas money contribution. Terry is a marketing "lifer" at Coke in Atlanta. Terry, you can be assured we will maintain brand loyalty throughout the ride. Jeanne, (Dr. Jeanne Perrine), my sister, is an Optometrist and she has the best prescription cycling frames. If you have this need, give her a call at 404-589-8517. Chloe is definitely the future biker in the Perrine clan.

Liz and Mac McGuffie were also kind enough to make a donation to our gas money fund. Liz is a new road bike convert. She and Mac own Country Roads Realty, 647-5724. Liz also owns Guys and Dolls Salon in downtown Lewisburg. Busy people with big hearts.       (their site doesn't like netscape)

Jack and Kathleeen Burke of Charleston, WV also donated to the gas fund. Jack is VP at Solomon/ SmithBarney Investments, 800-554-6756. Jack is also known for his leadership in the WV MS Society and his participation in the MS 150. We look forward to Jack joining us in BHam, AL.

Paul Swift, the LA connection, is running a shuttle from LAX Airport for Alinda, Rebel, and Nick. Paul is also locating Bobby and Harvey in California and riding a couple of days. Paul went to college at Auburn University, is a professional bike designer and "fitter." His nickname is "Swifty" and it is certainly no lie- he has won numerous national bicycle competitions. We may kidnap him for the rest of the trip.

WebMaster, Mike Condon, will be keeping www.freespiritadventures.com updated throughout the project. Mike is located at www.eightrivers.com. He is a great worker!

Jim Jackson, computer support extraordinaire! Jim downloaded, updated, defaulted, etc... Alinda and Bobby's new downloadable Heart Rate Monitors making WeCycle America "high tech" necks. Hopefully, each day our exact heart rate recordings will be downloaded with daily computer printouts.

Bill Ray and Nancy Perrine. These two really took their time to research Tybee Island and locate the best possible locations for our big celebration at the end of our journey. Info at the end of this issue.

Answered Needs
Stratton and Susan Smith from Tampa, Florida (cycle friends from the Strawberry Century and lovers of West Virginia) pulled through for us in the Walkie-Talkie department. Rosanne and Dale Hershberger, own Audio Innovators 7180 State Rt 7, Kinsman, OH 800-222-9929. Audio Innovators supply radio communication systems for fairs, events, etc. Rosanne and Dale are lending us this system. The range is 15 miles! Wow! Thanks so much!

Boys?
Bobby and Harvey, where are you?
Bobby and Harv departed Lewisburg at 1:15pm on Monday, August 13th loaded with food from Sara and Paul Baud and Vicki Neel. The first night the guys staked out a Wal-Mart parking lot just west of Nashville, Tennessee. On Wednesday, they crashed in a campground in Grant, New Mexico.
They are now headed to the Grand Canyon, then on to Las Vegas where they expect to "cash in" with Liz and Mac McGuffie, who are taking a little vacation there this week. Destination: Huntington Beach, CA Saturday, August 18th.

Location Info:
Birmingham info (Lewisburg to B'ham~ 9-10 hours) WeCycle arrival date in Birmingham, Alabama is September 22nd. Rosemary Sieg is the B'ham connection.
If you are coming to B'ham, come to 604 10th Avenue South. Directions: Interstate 65, 6th Ave South exit, as you exit, take the center lane, turn left at light, go thru the light under the underpass to the next light and turn right onto 10th Ave (Gable Square Amoco on left), go 2 blocks, 604 in on your right.
Please inform Rosemary rhsieg@aol.com that you are coming. Rosemary will also assist with shuttle arrangements from the B'ham Airport. WeCycle BHAM departure date: September 23rd.

Statesboro, Georgia. On September, 28th WeCycle overnights at Bill Ray and Nancy Perrine's place. If you are interested in hooking up with the tour at this location, email our hosts at ngpsolo@hotmail.com

Tybee Island (www.tybeeisland.com). Tybee is the place to be on Saturday, September 29th! The conclusion of the journey is planned at the Pavilion, sometime after 12noon. We plan to eat dinner at the Crab Shack, meals priced $10-$15, and the rating is excellent.
